Toronto Rocks
Hi My Friends!! Its quite a long time, I haven't written any blogs. Every time Naru forces me to write anything, I start it, goes on, gets bored and later turn it down. Oh yeah, I'm going to tell about my life in Canada.
About Me:
Here my profile varied from technician to Senior Product Manager. And also, now my 'oxford' English changed to something people believes (May be, I don't know what NARU will comment on this). I never thought when I'm in college; people will ever call me for any presentation or anything. My personality (my appearance), have undergone a great change from shy, a little bit inferior person to now.
About My Canada Trip:
I've been called to Bangalore on an urgent basis, which I've to travel to Canada. But later, this step was completely changed, because my BOSS wants me completely for biggest project Huawei Technologies India Pvt Ltd. ever had(BSNL). But this also later it changed (I don't why these chinkies are this much unorganised). Something like "Boss decides Chinki rejects". So later after so much of fights between my BOSS and CHINKI super heads, I was ordered to go. In between, My BOSS even decided to send me to Chennai with Canada VISA.
In Canada:
Here I saw very friendly people, ready to help and also concerned about others. They seldom worry about the academic, financial and previous job profiles. I've seen a PAKISTANI taxi driver who has a textile engineering degree and 5 year experience in JAPAN. People don't seem to worry about their previous positions. We have interviewed a guy (me also in Panel ;)), who has 15 year experience in different areas of Telecom domain (even in DB tuning, very important in telecom) opting for just a Technical Support Engineer (May be because of recession). But in India, it happens 1% even in recession.
About Canada:
Its a free big country with around 40% of immigrants. Everything here is very much organised. You'll see best managers here. Again Brits are the best in the business. Here may be whole CANADA won't be having even our one metro's population (May be my ignorance, but still I feel so). Everything is clean and full of green around. Beaches, Lakes, Rivers, Ponds; sometimes frozen also. And in summer, spicy scenes guaranteed above your expectation (again it was really above my expectation). People have freedom to do whatever they want and no one bothers if it doesn't break the rules. People respect rules where in India, "Rules are made to be broken"). Unlike India, here they have strict rules on work hours. You can't work more than 8 hours "if you are a Canadian Employee". And you'll find all restaurants and shops closed after 6:30 and not working on Saturday and Sunday. We can't imagine this in our Bangalore. Anyway nite life is on after 6:30 in pubs and bars.
About My Life in Canada
My life started cool, with no work here and spent time by seeing places, bikes shows etc. The Niagra view was one of the best in my life. I've never seen such a big lake (you'll get a doubt it is a lake) and the amount of water coming in. The falls are really amazing and huge, when you reach near by it is something which my vocabulary doesn't have words to describe it. And this is situated in a place called Niagra where people speak French. Here I got a friend who was a driver of John Travolta. He helped me in taking photos on Harley Davidson and Cadillac Limo.
My life in office became very much bad after that. Since these chinkies are very much unorganized and human labour was pretty much costly here, we had done everything even technician work of mounting the equipments, wiring, fixing it etc. Finally when it was done, we came back to our normal work. And even I got a chance of getting in Mercedes Benz R Class to the great Bell Office. It was me, with my two colleagues went to Bell for presentation and presentation was given by me. Our Marketing Manager left me in front of Bell Office in his Mercedes, I thought I'll fire a dialogue ("Driver, Vandi park cheythu varooo!"), if he understands someway, I'll be fired. Things happening were hard for me to believe, I'm in Canada, dropped in on a Mercedes and I'm going to the pioneer of telecom domain', "The BELL".
About Cost Cutting
I thought my life will be very much hard with the meager allowance I'm getting. But allowance system here is such liberal that I'm pretty much OK and earning in the situation. And me, first time in life started serious cooking. Now I'm able to cook rice and few dishes which make me better in cost cutting. My expense was $15 dollars a day also with free breakfast and lunch (sometimes) provided by company itself. But now it is reduced to less than half, which makes me feel good since I was thinking it would be difficult for me survive with the allowance given
And Finally
My hearty congrats to all my friends who got married recently. Dhanya n Jackie, Susu.. and those who are trying to get married before I come back.
And thats how this one ends. Its 9:20PM here, I go to go and prepare my dinner which consists of rice, salad, one double omlet and egg burgy (as you know I'm always a fan of)
Signing off
yours Pappu
